Position Overview
The Field Installation & Service Technician will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of IP telephone systems, network infrastructure, structured cabling, and IP-based security camera systems at client sites. The successful candidate will report to our Prescott office each morning before heading out to client locations throughout the region.
Primary Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and test IP telephone systems and associated network equipment
- Run, terminate, and certify network cabling (Cat5e/Cat6 and related media) in accordance with industry standards
- Install and commission IP-based security camera systems, including cameras, cabling, and Network Video Recorders (NVRs)
- Perform service calls to diagnose and repair VoIP system issues, network connectivity problems, and security camera faults
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time on-site
- Communicate professionally with clients during and after installations
- Follow all health, safety, and company policies at all times
Requirements
- Valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record (abstract will be required)
- Working at Heights certificate, or willingness and ability to obtain one prior to or shortly after hire
- Comfortable working with hand and power tools, including small drills and related installation equipment
- Normal colour vision required — colour-coded wiring identification is an essential function of this role
- Ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Good communication and customer service skills
Assets / Nice to Have
- Experience with IP telephony platforms (e.g., 3CX, Cisco, Yealink, Poly)
- Familiarity with network fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, PoE switches)
- Experience with IP security camera systems (Hikvision, Dahua, Axis, or similar)
- Structured cabling experience and/or BICSI or similar certification
- Experience using cable testers and certification tools
Compensation & Benefits
- Wage: Starting at $19.00/hour for entry-level candidates with no prior experience; rate increases commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week
- Company vehicle provided for all field work
- Vacation: In accordance with the Ontario Employment Standards Act
- Group health benefit plan available to join after 3 months of employment
Working Conditions
- Report daily to the Prescott, Ontario office; field work throughout the surrounding region
- Work may involve climbing ladders, working in ceiling spaces, and lifting equipment
- Must be comfortable working at heights (certificate required)
