Bed Maintenance Crew Leader

RD Everterra Garden & Lawn Care is a growing gardens & lawn maintenance company seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Bed Maintenance Crew Leader to join our garden bed maintenance team. If you have a passion for plants, a strong understanding of horticulture, and the leadership skills to guide a crew, this role is an excellent opportunity to shine.

The Bed Maintenance Crew Leader is responsible for overseeing the creation, care, and long-term health of garden beds across residential and commercial properties. This role requires advanced knowledge of trees, shrubs, perennials, soil health, and plant care techniques, along with the ability to train and lead crew members. You’ll ensure that every garden bed is healthy, well maintained, and aligned with horticultural best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a bed maintenance crew during daily operations
  • Create, plant, and maintain garden beds, including seasonal installs
  • Prune shrubs, trees, and perennials according to horticultural standards
  • Identify plant health concerns, pests, and diseases
  • Perform soil preparation, mulching, edging, weeding, and cultivation
  • Recommend plant choices, layouts, and enhancements for client properties
  • Ensure proper watering practices and irrigation awareness
  • Maintain clean job sites and uphold company quality standards
  • Communicate effectively with clients, crew members, and management
  • Train staff on proper horticultural techniques and safe equipment use

Required Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract (mandatory)
  • Strong horticultural knowledge, especially with trees, shrubs, and perennials
  • Proven experience in garden bed creation, plant care, and pruning
  • Ability to identify plant diseases, nutrient deficiencies, and pest issues
  • Experience leading a crew in landscaping or horticulture
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Strong work ethic, time management skills, and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Formal training or certification in horticulture or arboriculture
  • Experience with plant selection and garden design
  • Knowledge of safe pruning practices for ornamentals and small trees
  • Ability to read and execute garden plans or sketches
