Tackaberry Construction is a local, family run business, serving eastern Ontario since 1957, with three locations, over 50 pits and quarries and an asphalt plant in Eastern Ontario.

Our team has an immediate opening for a full-time Heavy Equipment Mechanic based at our Athens Location and serving Eastern Ontario (Leeds & Grenville, Lanark, Frontenac County).

THE ROLE

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for using their knowledge and diagnostic tools to identify malfunctions and perform necessary repairs for the Tackaberry fleet of equipment.

You are required to have a valid Class G driver’s license, and a clean driver’s abstract. You must have your own tools.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Strong team player who can work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with heavy equipment repairs
  • Reliable and flexible
  • Heavy Equipment Certificate is an asset
  • Heavy equipment repair: 2 years (preferred)
  • Knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems
  • A strong safety ethic
  • Valid Class G licence
  • Must possess own tools

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintenance, service and repair of heavy equipment
  • Operate, service and diagnose heavy equipment issues
  • Work co-operatively in the shop, as well as in the field when required
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Work primarily in the mechanic shop
  • Occasional work in the outdoors
  • Occasional requirement to drive to a work site
  • May be required to work long hours (6:00 am to 7:00 pm)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work in physically demanding conditions (such as awkward positions)
  • Ability to sit for intervals, with the ability to get up and move around (office work, driving)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to walk for moderate periods, including on uneven terrain
  • Ability to climb
  • Ability to bend, reach, squat and/or crouch, kneel
