Mechanic/Equipment Operator

Location: Maitland & surrounding area
Position Type: Full-time / Seasonal (with year-round work potential)

Wage: $22.00–$30.00 per hour with higher wages available based on experience, certifications, and mechanical/welding skills.

Hours: Monday–Friday

• Landscaping Season: Typically, around 40 hours per week; note, hours may vary due to weather conditions such as rain or extreme heat with occasional extended hours during peak periods.
• Winter Season: Hours vary and may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and on-call work during snow events

Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Mechanic / Equipment Operator to join our team. This role involves operating equipment in the field as well as maintaining and repairing landscaping and snow removal equipment throughout the year.

Equipment Operation

• Operate tractors for mowing and general landscaping duties during the landscaping season
• Operate snow plows, tractors, and snow removal equipment during the winter season
• Conduct daily equipment inspections and ensure safe operation

Mechanical & Maintenance Duties

• Diagnose, maintain, and repair landscaping equipment, including but not limited to:

           -Zero-turn mowers
           -Weed whackers and small engines
           -Trucks and trailers

• Maintain and repair winter equipment, including but not limited to:

           -Snow plows
           -Snow blowers
           -Tractors and related attachments

• Perform routine preventative maintenance to minimize downtime
• Complete basic fabrication and repairs as required
• Maintain service records and report major repair needs

Requirements

• Experience operating tractors and landscaping/snow removal equipment
• Strong mechanical aptitude with small engines and basic truck/equipment maintenance
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment independently
• Welding experience is a strong asset
• Valid driver’s license with clean drivers abstract
• Willingness to work extended hours during peak seasons if required
• Physically capable of working outdoors in all weather conditions

Assets

• Welding and fabrication experience
• Heavy equipment, agricultural, or fleet maintenance experience
• Landscaping and/or snow removal background
