JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: ReStore Assistant Director (Brockville)
Reports to: ReStore Director
Compensation: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
Job purpose:
This is a newly created position responsible for supporting the ReStore Director in providing strategic and operational leadership for the Brockville ReStore, ensuring strong revenue performance, exceptional customer service, efficient operations, and a positive mission-aligned culture. Reporting to the ReStore Director, this position supports revenue growth, assists with optimizing operational efficiency, supports staff and volunteer management, assists with community partnerships, and helps ensure compliance with organizational standards and safety requirements. This role plays a key part in furthering the affiliate’s mission by supporting the successful operation of the Brockville ReStore as a profitable, community-driven social enterprise.
Job Requirements:
•Must submit a Level 2 – Criminal Records and Judicial Matters check prior to employment as per our corporate policy.
•Valid G driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle is required due to multi-site responsibilities as assigned, approved by the ReStore Director.
•Must have availability to work weekends as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership, Strategy & Culture:
•Support the ReStore Director by ensuring they are informed of any key factors affecting the Brockville ReStore.
•Assist the ReStore Director in implementing strategic plans and revenue targets for Brockville ReStore operations.
•Contribute to reporting on sales performance, inventory, staffing, and operational challenges.
•Support the execution of operational plans aligned with the affiliate’s strategic goals.
•Assist in leading Brockville ReStore operations in alignment with Habitat for Humanity’s values and goals.
•Provide operational input and support for financial updates as requested.
•Model and reinforce a workplace culture rooted in kindness, professionalism, collaboration, and mutual respect.
•Support team leadership efforts, motivating staff and volunteers to achieve shared goals and maintain a positive, mission-driven culture.
Store Operations & Financial Management:
•Support community and media interactions in consultation with the ReStore Director.
•Assist with store operational duties and assume responsibility when delegated by the ReStore Director.
•Support day-to-day operations of the Brockville ReStore, ensuring consistency in procedures, customer service, and merchandising standards.
•Assist with budget monitoring and fiscal accountability.
•Complete assigned bank deposits and reporting requirements.
•Support donation record maintenance and issue tax receipts upon request.
•Support compliance with all legal, health and safety, and Habitat for Humanity Canada operational standards.
•Assist in maintaining inventory control systems and pricing structures.
•Support coordination of deliveries and inventory replenishment, including distribution centre orders as needed.
•Support compliance with legal requirements governing Human Resource Management.
•Assist with canvassing local building suppliers, contractors and nearby ReStores for donations.
Staff & Volunteer Management
•Support the supervision of ReStore volunteers.
•Assist with leadership and supervision of staff and volunteers.
•Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and evaluation of paid staff and key volunteers.
•Participate in staff development activities and performance review processes as assigned.
•Promote a positive, inclusive, and mission-driven workplace culture.
•Support performance feedback and coaching for staff and volunteers.
•Ensure compliance by volunteers and staff with adopted ReStore policies and mandates.
•Attend Habitat For Humanity Canada ReStore meetings and committee meetings as required or delegated.
•Provide daily task coordination and support to staff and volunteers.
•Support training and compliance with workplace policies and safety requirements.
Donor & Community Engagement
•Support collaboration with corporate sponsors, donors, suppliers, staff, and volunteers.
•Assist with relationship-building with local businesses, contractors, suppliers, and donors.
•Support collaboration with the Manager of Fundraising and Community Connections to increase community awareness and traffic.
•Assist with digital engagement efforts and maintain professional representation of the Habitat for Humanity brand online as directed. Utilize digital tools and platforms to enhance community engagement and visibility. Must be tech-savvy and proficient in Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram, in collaboration with the Manager of Fundraising and Community Connections as well as the ReStore Director.
Administrative & Reporting
•Assist with issuing tax receipts for donors who have requested one.
•Support preparation of operational reports for the ReStore Director.
•Attend ReStore leadership meetings as assigned and share updates as required.
•Support accurate records of bank deposits, donations, and tax receipts.
•Assist with sales and income reporting to the bookkeeper.
•Support reporting requirements to Habitat for Humanity Canada and the distribution centre.
•Assist with inventory ordering from the distribution centre when required.
•Support documentation and compliance processes related to staff evaluations.
Health, Safety & Compliance
•Follow the Occupational Health and Safety National Program Manual procedures.
•Support ensuring all staff and volunteers have appropriate and current certificates, licences, and health and safety training.
•Support enforcement of the Occupational Health and Safety National Program Manual.
•Promote and reinforce a safety-first culture.
•Assist with compliance monitoring and safety audits.
•Actively support a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
•Minimum 3-5 years of experience in retail management or supervisory roles required.
•Proven success in team leadership and operational support.
•Strong organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
•Ability to take direction and make sound decisions under pressure.
•Strong communication and teamwork skills.
•Passion for Habitat for Humanity’s mission and values.
•Demonstrated kindness and emotional intelligence.
•Competent in reporting, technology tools, and POS systems.
•Proficiency with social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram) and general digital tools.
•Valid Criminal Records check required.
Working conditions:
•Requires some travel between ReStore locations in Brockville and Kemptville, with evening and weekend events outside of office hours.
•Steel-toe boots certified with the CSA green triangle required.
•Retail environment requiring standing, walking, lifting, and regular customer interactions.
Physical Requirements:
•Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
