House of Lazarus is a not-for-profit outreach mission which operates food banks, social enterprise thrift stores, community hubs and outreach programs.  Currently we are looking to fill our Community Engagement Manager position. Community Engagement Manager

 

The Community Engagement Manager will build and maintain strong relationships between House of Lazarus and its community by developing and implementing strategies for communication, collaboration, and outreach. This role includes organizing events, gathering feedback, supporting fundraising initiatives, and acting as a liaison between the organization and its stakeholders. Key skills include communication, project management, and relationship-building.

 Qualifications:

 ·         Related diploma and 3-5 years of related professional experience

·         Work experience within a non-profit organization is strongly preferred

·         Experience planning successful events with a high degree of professionalism that raise awareness and funds

·         An innovative approach to engaging clients, donors, and community partners

·         Demonstrated ability to produce impactful communications including newsletters, donor appeals, annual reports, social media, and press releases

·         Experience coordinating various opportunities including corporate, events, and ongoing service enhancing roles

·         High degree of independence, with the ability to travel to various HOL locations

·         Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills

·         Ability to facilitate engaging group activities

·         Knowledge of community resources related to housing insecurity and food insecurity, addictions, and mental health

·         Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills

·         Commitment to working from an anti-oppressive, and equity-based lens

·         Ability to set professional boundaries and maintain confidentiality

·         Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Position:

 ·         Assist the management team with the creation and implementation of plans to engage the community, which can include programs, committees and partnerships

·         Act as a liaison, fostering strong ties with community members, leaders, and organizations that have a similar poverty focused lens

·         Utilize various channels like social media, reports, and public events to share information pertaining to poverty, food insecurity and housing insecurity

·         Plan and manage community events, forums, and meetings that address poverty, food insecurity and housing insecurity with partnering agencies

·         Assist management team with fundraising activities and initiatives to secure financial support

·         Collect input from the community to help shape House of Lazarus strategies

·         Work with the management team to ensure consistent community engagement

·         Manage and support the Community Hub team, including volunteers
