Job purpose:

To oversee the day-to-day operations of the Kemptville ReStore under the direction of the District Manager, ensuring sales targets, customer service standards, volunteer engagement, and operational efficiency are met. The Supervisor will take on delegated duties from the District Manager, while supporting the mission and values of Habitat for Humanity Thousand Islands.

Job Requirements:

Must submit a Level 2 – Criminal Records and Judicial Matters check prior to employment Ensure the ReStore Director and the Board of Directors are informed of any important factors affecting the ReStore

Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends.

Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Operational Oversight:

Ensure compliance with Habitat for Humanity Thousand Islands adopted ReStore policies and procedures.

Apply appropriate pricing guidelines to products, ensuring consistency and fairness.

Maintain effective inventory control and coordinate with the District Manager regarding large product orders from the distribution centre.

Ensure all health and safety protocols are followed, including WHMIS, forklift certification, and other required training.

 

 Sales & Financial Responsibilities:

Assist in meeting and monitoring monthly sales targets and operational budgets as delegated by the District Manager.

Report daily and monthly sales figures to the District Manager and bookkeeper.

Ensure bank deposits are completed according to organizational procedures.

Issue tax receipts for donations upon request.

 

Volunteer & Staff Supervision:

Recruit, onboard, schedule, and supervise ReStore volunteers to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts.

Assign daily tasks to volunteers and staff, ensuring productivity and a positive work environment.

Conduct volunteer orientations and ensure all sign-in procedures and records are maintained.

Provide ongoing coaching, training, and performance feedback to volunteers and staff under the direction of the District Manager.

 

Community Engagement & Donor Relations:

Build relationships with local donors, contractors, businesses, and suppliers to secure a steady flow of quality donations.

Represent the ReStore in a professional manner at community events, when delegated by the District Manager.

Support in-store advocacy for the Habitat for Humanity mission.

 

Reporting & Communication:

Prepare and submit operational reports to the District Manager, including sales, summaries, donation values, and volunteer metrics.

Attend regular meetings with the District Manager and participate in monthly Habitat ReStore conference calls as required.

Inform the District Manager of any issues that could impact operations, safety, or the organization’s reputation.

 

Other Duties:

Take on delegated management tasks during District Manager absences.

Assist in staff performance reviews when requested by the District Manager.

Carry out other reasonable tasks in support of the ReStore’s success.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum 3-5 years retail experience, preferably in a supervisory or assistant management role.

Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated ability to solve problems and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Experience working with volunteers is an asset.

Ability to maintain professionalism in stressful situations.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

 

Working conditions:

Retail environment requiring regular standing, walking, lifting, and customer interaction.

Some administrative work in an office setting.

Occasional evening or weekend shifts may be required based on operational needs.

Steel-toe boots certified with the CSA green triangle required.

Possible shift coverage in Brockville when needed. To be determined by the District Manager and approved by the Executive Director.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
