The Spencerville Mill Foundation is offering employment for a full-time four month term position. According to the terms of funding grant, a student may be eligible for employment if they:

  • are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent resident status are not eligible);
  • are legally entitled to work in Canada (have a valid social insurance number);
  • are between (15) 16 and 30 years of age inclusively at the start of employment; and
  • are a high school, college, CEGEP or university student.

Candidates(s) shall have experience or special interest in history, social science, journalism, marketing, curatorial or museum studies or other related fields. Working under the supervision of our Executive Director, the Lead Historical Interpreter & Curator will:

  • assist with the development and implementation of an exhibit about Railway Transportation and other topics as assigned.
  • identify and collect relevant artifacts, photographs, documents, and objects associated with exhibit
  • work closely with local historians, volunteers, and other experts to gather additional insights and perspectives on the historical subjects.
  • assist with training junior museum staff on the historical narratives to ensure consistent and accurate interpretation during tours and events, overseeing staff research projects.
  • assist with housekeeping, gardening and maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • be a supervisory presence in the Mill in the absence of the Executive Director.

Wage: $20.00 per hour
Hours: Fulltime, weekdays. Occasional weekend and evening work. Not to exceed 560 hours.
Dates: Early May to Late August. (approximately 16 weeks)
Work location: in person on site at the Mill or work room in municipal building.
