Farmers’ Market Sales Person
Description:
We are looking for someone to join our farm team to act as a sales person at our weekend farmers’ markets. The successful candidate will be working directly with the farm owners and independently at a farmers’ markets on weekends in the Ottawa area.
Timeframe:
Start: May 1, 2025
End: Oct 31, 2025
Hours:
15-30 hours per week
Full-time or part-time positions available.
Pay:
Will be determined based on qualifications of the candidate. Starting at $17.20 - $20.00 per hour depending on experience.
Tasks:
-field labour including transplanting, weeding, harvesting, laying fabric, moving tarps
-design studio work including washing buckets, prepping stems, bunching flowers, cleaning and organizing
-loading market vehicle, driving to market, setting up market stall including tents/tables/banner/display racks, displaying sale items and signage, taking payments on mobile device, taking payments by cash, interacting with customers in a friendly way, representing our farm and our brand in a way that aligns with our values
Successful candidate will:
-be reliable and punctual
-have transportation to our farm in Spencerville, ON
-be able to lift 40 pounds
-be trustworthy
-possess good communication skills
-be charismatic and comfortable interacting with market customers and other market vendors
-possess a valid driver’s licence
-have a clean driving record
-be able to drive a truck on country roads and on the highway safely
-opperate a point of sale system on a mobile device
-be observant
-be able to follow instructions and ask questions when needed
-be able to work on a team
-be able to work independently
-be able to stay calm under pressure
-understand the importance of representing our business and brand, and conduct themselves accordingly when working at our farmers’ market stall and when travelling to and from the farmers’ markets
-be motivated to learn about farming and want to be employed by us for more than one season
Other training that would be great but not necessary:
-first aid
-CPR
-be able to drive a truck and trailer safely on country roads and highways
-be able to reverse a truck and trailer safely and with accuracy
