CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE

(SALES FLOOR)

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The primary responsibility of the Customer Service Representative is to assist customers, this may include merchandising, stocking shelves, loading and unloading merchandise into, or from, customer vehicles, assisting with lumber selection and cutting materials to the customer’s specifications. Customer Service Rep. unload company vehicles and load and unload materials for delivery to customers and storage in the yard. Customer Service Rep’s work both indoors and outdoors and may be exposed to inclement weather, including hot and cold temperatures. This position works closely with Customers, Store Management and Store Staff.

  1. Customer Service – Greet customers, acknowledge their presence and provide courteous, efficient and attentive service in a timely manner. Identify customer needs and provide assistance with the handling of large or heavy items when necessary. Address customer questions, tact and good judgment, including involving Key Holders and/or Management, as required, resolving customer issues.
  2. Customer Service Rep. will also: cut keys, cut chain, cut rope, sharpen skates, complete water testing etc. Effectively share product knowledge and provide direction, as necessary, to meet the needs of customers. Assist customers in pulling lumber. Write loading tickets for customers to use when paying for merchandise as needed. Keeping a business-like appearance and interactions with customers. Cut lumber, glass and pipe to customer specifications. Customer service Rep will also: help customers locate items, answer any questions they may have, check inventory and pricing.
  3. Follow all safety procedures and use all safety equipment.
  4. Loading and Delivery– Verify loading ticket and customer authorization to pick-up merchandise. Use receipt to confirm merchandise was paid for and the correct amount of merchandise to load. Load and unload merchandise into customer and company vehicles.
  5. Stock - Stock incoming freight neatly in appropriate locations. Ensure all incoming stock is put away in a timely manner to ensure easy access, safety and loss control. Regularly communicate with Managers regarding inventory concerns, stock outages, merchandise damage and loss and other departmental issues. Merchandising will also include: merchandising stock on sales floor, printing labels, and facing aisles, etc.
  6. Product Knowledge –General knowledge of merchandise carried and where it is located in order to direct customers.
  7. Loss Prevention – Identify shoplifting indicators.
  8. Housekeeping – Keep counter areas clean and aisles, neat, stocked and organized. Emptying garbage’s when necessary.
  9. Team Work - Helping other staff members as required

 Other Duties:

  1. Complete tasks on work list as assigned.
  2. Completing Safety Courses as required.
  3. Exchange customer propane tanks as required and applicable.
  4. Assist Receiving and Garden Departments with freight as needed.
  5. Distribute unloaded merchandise to correct department as needed.
  6. Follow all policies and procedures in the yard including sales, inventory and safety.
  7. Properly use and maintain all equipment.
  8. Perform other duties as needed.
