PUBLIC WORKS OPERATOR 1 – PERMANENT FULL TIME

The Township of Augusta is looking for a permanent full-time Public Works Operator 1.

Reporting to the Manager of Public Works, the Public Works Operator 1 is responsible for completing various tasks for the Township of Augusta; most tasks are either labour or truck driving. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND DUTIES 

  • Valid DZ driver’s licence in good standing
  • Minimum grade 12 education (OSSD)
  • Operation of tandem dump truck equipped with plow, wing, sander equipment, and other related equipment with winter driving/operating experience on municipal roads
  • Two years of motor grader operator experience, in a Municipal environment
  • Proven ability and experience to operate a backhoe, front-end loader, tractor with attachments such as a mower and front mounted rotary broom, pick up truck
  • Mechanical aptitude to perform minor service, maintenance and repair of assigned equipment is considered an asset
  • Strong working knowledge of Municipal Road maintenance

 WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT 

  • 40 Hours per week
  • The successful candidate MUST be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call
  • Overtime hours may be required

Pay band - $24.29 to $26.07 and a comprehensive benefit package is also provided as per OPSEU Collective Agreement.
