Nature & Scope:

Reporting directly to the Facilities Manager, the cleaner will work as part of a team that will consistently maintain a high level of cleanliness within the facility. The cleaner will fulfill all of their responsibilities to ensure that members have a clean and safe facility to enjoy all YMCA of eastern Ontario has to offer.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for working with cleaning and maintenance teams with the goals of:

  • Ensuring that all assigned areas are cleaned as per establish protocols, monitoring all areas by walking throughout facility regularly.
  • Entering the change rooms on an hourly basis for ongoing cleaning and to keep the supplies and equipment in good order.
  • Knowing and promoting all established procedures and safety standards.
  • Responding promptly to request for cleaning services.
  • Performing pool chemistry test regularly and recording readings, as well backwashing pools
  • Ensuring good relations with YMCA personnel, members, and the public.
  • Lifting and carrying supplies as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Criminal Reference Check (CPIC) including Vulnerable Sector Check completed not more than 120 days prior to interview, with results acceptable to the YMCA of Eastern Ontario. Those under 18 years of age will be required to sign a statutory declaration confirming that there is no criminal reason why they should not work with children.
  • New staff will need to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a valid exemption as a condition of their employment.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR level “C”
