DoorNumberOne.org is a new not-for-profit organization developing projects to create practical inspiration for the transition to a just, beautiful and regenerated world.

We are looking for a student with education, skills and experience in the field of communications to help us complete the build-out of our new website, create and implement social media campaigns, and begin the documentation of several exciting projects on the Maitland Tower site related to ecological restoration and deep green building practices. There may also be some support needed to help communicate, coordinate and host events with our community partners and the general public, pending COVID restrictions.

This position will need to be based from home, with the requirement to get to the Maitland Tower site as needed for events and to document activities. This might mean several times a week, or as little as once a week, depending on what is happening onsite. The Communications Specialist will have daily contact with the Executive Director of DoorNumberOne.org via video, phone, online, and in-person at the Maitland Tower site. There will also be regular contact with members of the Maitland Tower management and crew.

We are looking for:

  • A student enrolled in a degree or diploma program in the field of communications, with at least one year complete
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Some experience with graphics, layout, and creating digital posts for impact
  • A demonstrated ability to take pictures and video and use them to document events, projects, and tell stories
  • A demonstrated interest and some experience in projects, clubs or activities related to the environment, climate change, and/or social justice causes
  • Experience with WordPress would be an asset

If this position sounds like a fit, we would love to hear from you. We are especially interested in students who live in the South Grenville/Brockville/Prescott area. A warm welcome to applicants of all genders, abilities, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

Please send your resume and cover letter, along with an example of a communications piece that you have created, to Michèle Andrews -  michele@doornumberone.org by Tuesday May 25th at noon.
