Lockwood Brothers Construction is a total package Residential/Commercial/Agricultural builder specializing in custom builds for many walks of life. We are proud to push the boundaries of “normal” and challenge ourselves with tougher standards and concepts that make us a “custom” builder. As part of the total package, we have our own excavation equipment and trucks to handle almost all our work in that department. Lockwood Brothers Construction is now seeking a qualified person who can bring some experience to the team working mainly around excavation, but ultimately someone who can contribute to our overall success.

 Knowledge and Skill requirements

  • Demonstrate the ability to work exclusively within the safety guidelines of the industry, always keeping the safety of yourself, your co-workers, the public and the equipment as the number 1 priority
  • Basic knowledge and experience with mechanical equipment is a must
  • Must possess the physical means to climb safely around equipment, including to operate, load, secure and maintain as required and to perform physical duties like shoveling, raking, etc.
  • Ability to work well alone or with a team, to manage time and production.
  • Ability to communicate and interact verbally and in writing
  • Initiative to complete tasks safely, and efficiently with the best possible results or to a standard set out by the company
  • Must have proven experience and knowledge working with heavy equipment performing civil works
  • Basic knowledge of grade equipment like laser levels, gps and machine grade control systems
  • Clean Driving Record, with a valid driver license and the means of getting to and from work (Dz or Az drivers license would be an asset)
  • Be open minded and creative trying new procedures and accomplishing challenging tasks

 Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work mostly unsupervised to complete all site works efficiently with safety as the overall priority
  • Follow and interpret house plans, grading plans and site plans to complete projects using common excavation procedures
  • Operate Heavy Equipment (excavators, Bulldozers, Backhoes, etc) work includes but is not limited to site preparation, septic system installs and repairs, land clearing, fine grading, landscaping. etc
  • Daily heavy equipment maintenance inspections, routine maintenance servicing and some minor repairs
  • Maintain and submit detailed daily work records for billing, and compensation purposes
  • Co-ordinate and manage subcontractors for aggregate and other material deliveries
  • Complete labour duties as required to complete tasks including but not limited to, raking, hand shoveling, cutting, tarping, moving material by hand, minor outdoor plumbing, etc.
  • Always respect public and private property while operating earth moving equipment
  • Work outdoors and Prepare for changing weather conditions. Understand that sun, heat, cold and rain may be a part of daily challenges
  • have somewhat flexible working hours to accommodate individual situations
