Merrick Preparatory School is looking for a Director of Residential Life, Summer Programs and Administrative Manager. This is a pivotal leadership role. Reporting to the Headmaster, this position has two distinct roles: The Director of Residential Life and Summer Programs provides exemplary leadership, overseeing and managing all non-academic aspects and activities of our students. With your team of Residential Life Supervisors, you will ensure the implementation of a robust, engaging and fun residential life program for our students during the evenings and weekends, and for our summer camp students in July.

Responsibilities Include:

• Managing the day-to-day residential life and student affairs programs (Student Life Curriculum, evening and weekend activities, arrivals and departures, co-curricular activities)

• Overseeing all special activities and events (Graduation, Prom, International Day, Student Council)

 • Communicating with parents

• Ensuring the health and safety of our students (physical and mental)

• Behaviour management and discipline in all non-academic areas

• Creates evening and weekend programs that meet the needs and interests of our students

• Manages and updates protocols, processes, procedures

• Hires, trains, manages a team of four residential life supervisors and summer camp staff

The Administrative Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the school, from ordering supplies, tracking invoices and reporting on attendance and student information.

Responsibilities Include:

• Tracking student attendance

• Submitting reports to the Ontario Ministry of Education on student data

• Tracking and reporting on expenses

• Basic office management, from ordering materials and supplies, to answering phones and overseeing the security system

• Ensuring school signage and student lists are kept up-to-date

Qualifications, skills and experience:

 • University degree in education, psychology, business or similar • Experience working with teens in a school or camp like environment

• Ability to exercise fair, ethical and sound judgement

• Superior client service

• Adaptable, flexible, resilient and positive

• Enthusiastic and motivated with a sense of fun and play

• Detail oriented, highly professional and discrete

• Superior organize and time management skills

• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills Established in 2012, Merrick Preparatory School is an international day and boarding school with a maximum enrolment of 60 boarding students and 20 day students. We enroll students into one of three streams: i) grade 9, 10, 11 and 12 credits towards the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD); ii) English as a Second Language (ESL) Foundation Program, and; iii) University Qualification Year (UQY). Our average class size is 10 students and our graduates maintain a 100% university placement rate to their first-choice university. In addition, we offer recreational co-curricular activities and ‘boutique’ residential living with queen size beds and en suite bathrooms. Located in a heritage building in Merrickville, Ontario, honoured as Canada’s most beautiful village, we are 45 minutes from Ottawa and are adjacent to the Rideau River and Canal system, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm. Occasional weekend and evening work will be required. Start Date: Immediately
