Overview:

We are looking for a self-motivated individual who adapts well to change and enjoys working in a fast paced team environment.  Reports to maintenance manager.  Support maintenance manager in all aspect of the mechanical and electrical components of the facility.  Escorts trade contractors entering the facility for servicing equipment.  Performs and logs daily, weekly, monthly and annual maintenance logs on various equipment.   Be completely familiar with Occupation Health and Safety Act.  Follows all GTW health and safety procedures and policies.                   

Highlights:

  • Operate floor washer, ensuring warehouse cleanliness is kept up to GTW standards and expectations
  • Perform detail cleaning tasks ensuring corners, mechanical rooms, pedestrian pathways are clean of debris and meet GTW standards
  • Working with emergency power generation systems
  • Working  with building fire suppression systems
  • Support building mechanical systems in the absence of the maintenance manager.
  • First responder to mechanical issues during evening operational hours .
  • Support outside contractors during non-typical business hours
  • Ensure all contractors have a valid WSIB clearance certificate and training as well as adhere to G.T. and OHSA policies and procedures prior to performing any work on GT property.
  • Assist in snow removal in ensuring accesses are kept clear for path of travel.
  • Reports to maintenance manager on all third party contracts including but not limited to snow removal, yard maintenance, generator, fire suppression contractors and ensure contractual agreements are met.
  • Trouble shooting mechanical and electrical issues while ensuring lock out tag out procedures are followed.
  • Operating and servicing various pieces of equipment including but not limited to forklifts, boom trucks, and tractors.

Job Requirements:

  • Completion of High School;
  • Demonstrated working knowledge or Ontario College of trades or equivalent with regards to but not limited to emergency power generation systems or fire suppression systems.
  • Representing Giant Tiger professionally in all ways
  • Demonstrated knowledge in all of the mechanical trades
  • Required to respond to on call emergencies such as fire alarm troubles, supervisory, alarms, power outage, and or other events that would affect operations.
  • Good communication, computer, & negotiating skills;
  • Good working knowledge of MS office including Outlook
  • Experience working with a Building Automation Systems is an asset
  • Bilingual is an asset;
