 Tke KYC - Kemptville Youth Centre is currently seeking an experienced Part-time Operations Manager.

Operations Manager

 The Operations Manager (OM) is responsible and accountable to the Board of Directors (BOD) for the successful leadership and management of the Kemptville Youth Centre (KYC) according to the strategic plan and annual priorities set by the Board of Directors.

While the activities listed are the responsibility of the OM, the incumbent is encouraged to confer with/involve the relevant BOD member to maximize efficiency and ensure that the assistance of the BOD is obtained where necessary/beneficial.

 Areas of Responsibilities

 PROGRAMMING

  • Oversee the planning, implementation and evaluation of the Centre's programs and services ensuring that they meet the organizations mission and vision.
  • Develop and maintain staff operational/work plan which incorporates goals and objectives of KYC’s strategic plan.

CORPORATE & YOUTH COUNCIL

  • Participate with the BOD in developing, reviewing and updating the strategic plan.
  • Communicate in a timely manner with the BOD on internal and external issues that affect the organization.
  • Ensure that the BOD and the organization carries appropriate and adequate insurance coverage.
  • Implement policies and procedures as directed by the BOD.
  • Prepare a monthly OM report (including Programming) to be presented to the BOD
  • Develop and maintain a Risk Management Strategy in relation to KYC’s people, property, finances, goodwill, and image and implement measures to control risks

 STAFFING

  • Hire, manage and evaluate staff
  • Identify annual needs and recruit and manage volunteers accordingly

PROPERTY & FINANCE

  • Ensure the facilities are maintained in good, safe working order at all times
  • Ensure cleanliness of KYC building and property
  • Ensure accounts payable and accounts receivable are kept current

GRANTS

  • Research Grant opportunities that support KYC needs
  • Prepare applications, complete related tasking and and fulfill reporting requirements

 COMMUNITY SERVICE & PARTNERSHIP

  • Act as a spokesperson for the organization to community at large and with other youth centers in accordance with KYC mission and Vision
  • Establish and maintain formal and informal community partnerships to support community outreach and development
  • Represent KYC at community activities to enhance the organization's community profile.

OTHER DUTIES

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Board

 Education and Certificates

  • Diploma/degree in business or recreation administration
  • A valid First Aid and CPR level C.
  • Must hold a valid police vulnerable sector report prior to appointment
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License.
  • Knowledge of leadership and management principles as they relate to non-profit/ voluntary organizations and experience in a leadership/management role.
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation applicable to voluntary sector.
  • Knowledge of current community challenges and opportunities relating to the mission of the organization.
  • Experience of human resources management.
  • Experience of financial management.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers for Office Suite, accounting, email and social media.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Strong youth engagement skills.

Experience

  • Minimum of (2) years experience in the field of a non-profit or volunteer organization and have solid background in a leadership/progressive management role.
  • Previous work or volunteer experience with youth aged 12-18 an asset.

 Working Conditions

  • The Operations Manager will work 25 hours per week but must be flexible in scheduling work hours to best accommodate the organization (evenings, weekends and/or to accommodate activities such as board meetings, public events and other functions as required to meet the organizational demands of the operation.
  • Provide own transportation and required insurance coverage to use personal vehicle for work purposes as appropriate.
